KinoHunt is a side passion project that I worked on with 2 of my friends. As movie buffs, we all saw movies watching as an unique experience that took us beyond our daily lives. While we all had our own ways of building our movie collection (whether it was blu ray, digital downloads, or pirating them...), we all shared two really similar pain points. 1. We all hated how much these things cost; 2. We all wanted to keep track of movies we wanted to add to our collection in a organized manner.
One day back in 2014, a friend of mine noticed the price of movies on popular digital sources such as iTunes varies over time. We thought to ourselves, what if we could build an app that tracks these prices and notifies ourselves of these price drops, so we can snag the movies at the lowest price possible? While doing that, it would be THE place where we kept track of all the movies we wanted to watch or own?
An app that tracks movie price changes
Long story short, we built an app that we all wanted to use, launched in the app store, tried different growth hacks, failed. Tried again, failed again. Went through many iterations, prototyped different interactions, and heard some great feedback from our users.
Today, the project is in maintenance mode as our developer partner is busy exploring more exciting opportunities, but it was definitely a fun learning experience for all of us.
