In January 2016, I had the opportunity to take on a brand new challenge - moving to the LinkedIn consumer team. After creating enterprise experiences for more nearly three years, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and take the new challenge head on.
Since then, I’ve been incredibly lucky to lead our design efforts on the LinkedIn homepage, feed, as well as our content ecosystem. With each of these being used by millions of users on a daily basis, its been an incredibly rewarding experience.
We’ve been hard at work on some amazing experiences, but I must keep these projects under wraps for now as they have yet to be released.
Being on a complete new team presented many new challenges and opportunities. I’ve been leading by example, acting as the glue that brings together the siloed efforts from different team, while advocating for a more cohesive LinkedIn member experience.
Along the way, I’ve instilled the strong prototyping mentality within LinkedIn design culture. From voicing my concerns that flat mocks can no longer be considered as completed designs, to hosting prototyping workshops. The team have went from demoing work through flat pngs and Invision, to a place where designers are actively sharing source files of their animated prototypes.
This page felt very boring without designs, so below is a photo of me hard at work... Stay tuned.
